EcoSad

EcoSad is an insecticide formulated as a Concentrated Suspension. Its active ingredient, Spinosad, is a mixture of compounds resulting from the fermentation of Saccharopolyspora spinosa, a soil microorganism. It is made up of two closely related compounds, spinosyn A and spynosyn D, in a ratio of approximately 6: 1 or 7: 1, which represent approximately 88% of the composition and are responsible for its insecticidal activity.

Its mode of action consists of blocking nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This leads to the interruption of neurotransmission carried out by acetylcholine. It also has side effects as an agonist in gamma-amino-butyric acid (GABA) neurotransmission. It has not been shown to cause cross resistance to any other known insecticide.

EcoSad is recommended as a larvicide for the control of mosquitoes; cockroaches, Blattella germanica, Periplaneta americana, Periplaneta fuliginosa; ants such as Camponotus sp, Iridomyrmex humilis; as well as other insects and arthropods. It can be used in various situations such as industrial and commercial premises, residential houses and other urban structures, both internally and on the perimeter of buildings. It has been shown to be highly toxic to Aedes aegypti and Anopheles albimanus larvae under laboratory conditions and interrupted the development of Aedes aegypti, Culex spp., and Chironomidae larvae under semi-natural conditions for periods of 8 to 22 weeks depending on the concentration (Bond et al 2004). Its low toxicity provides high safety in its use, as well as a low impact on non-target species.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE

To control cockroaches and ants, dilute 10 to 15 cc of the formula in 10 liters of water, shake the mixture and locate the application in the places of refuge, nesting and circulation of the organisms to be controlled. Higher concentrations should be used on absorbent surfaces, such as bricks, wood, concrete and others that reduce the residuality of the pesticide formulations. Also outdoors on surfaces exposed to the sun or leaching. Regularly inspect the treated sites to determine the need for new applications.

To control mosquitoes, apply 1.5 cc of the formulated per m2 of water surface.
