Local, regional, epidural and infiltrative anesthetic

Formula:
Each 100 mL contains:
Lidocaine 2.0 g
Excipients q.s.ad. 100 mL

 

Indications:

Effective and potent injectable anaesthetic. It is indicated to induce local, regional, or infiltrative anaesthesia, by injection in the affected area; for local procedures (wounds, suture, castrations, etc.) or regional procedures by epidural or infiltrative administration. It is also used I/V for the treatment of some cardiac arrhythmia of ventricular origin, diagnosed and controlled during the ECG administration.

 

Target species:

Bovines, ovines, goats, equines, swine, canines and cats.

Route of administration:

Injection, in the area where the anesthesia effect is wanted.

 

Dosage:
Dose: * 1 to 4 mg/kg for local anesthesia.

The posology is according to the veterinarian’s criteria, depending on the case and the desired effect. The effect appears some minutes after administration and it lasts from 45 minutes to hours post- administration.

For ventricular originated arrhythmias: canines 2 to 4 mg/kg of body weight, I/V. as initial dose, then by constant infusion of 20 to 80 µg/kg per minute. ECG will determinate if it is enough or if it is needed another kind of anti-arrhythmic.

In felines 0.5 mg/kg body weight, I/V., (the dose is equivalent to the quarter part of the canines, as felines are much more sensitive to the effects of the drug).

Posology

Large animals: Epidural: 5 to 60 ml, 5 ml for perineal anaesthesia in bovines. High block (femoral, tibial, etc.) 10 to 30 ml in each one of the nerves for an adult animal. Distal block or anaesthesia (digital), for surgery procedures or for diagnosis, ring block, etc. 2.5 to 10 ml according to the administration area.

Small animals: Epidural: canines 1 ml/5 kg b.w..; perineal block 1 ml/3 kg b.w.. (for abdominal anaesthesia).

For infiltrations, dissolve at 0.5% (1 ml of Lidocaine at 2% in 3 ml of sterile water = 4 ml at 0.5%).
