Dengue Is an infectious disease caused by a virus transmitted through the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. This type of mosquito began to live in Uruguay, is established in neighboring countries, and is adapted to the urban environment. The adult Aedes Aegypti mosquito, transmitter of dengue and yellow fever, has bands silver or yellow on a dark background in his back, and a characteristic pattern in the form of a lyre on the back of the chest. The legs have conspicuous bands and the last knuckle of the hind legs is white. The abdomen of the female tends to be sharp.
There is no transmission by direct contact with a sick person, his secretions or by contact with water or food. It is difficult to eradicate the mosquito transmitter, so it should monitor the distribution and prevalence of vectors. It is essential to avoid the formation and drain of stagnant water, to remove household waste, fill the water tanks, change the water daily for pets and farm and control the loads and regional transport. Protection against mosquito transmitter is performed with the use of repellents, insecticides and meshes against insects. Pesticide use should be made to avoid harm to wildlife and crops. Trials are also underway to genetically modify mosquitoes to guide them to the prevalence of incompetent people in transmitting the virus. |

The transmission is indirect, through the bite of the infected Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The females need protein from blood to develop eggs and become infected by biting the contaminated blood, then, when they bite another person they infect them.
