Formula:
Phenylbutazone…………….. 20 g
Excipients q.s.ad…………… 100 mL

 

Indications:
Anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic.

It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of inflammatory affections associated to the muscle-skeleton system, such as arthritis, bursitis, miositis, tendonitis, tendovaginitis, neuritis, laminitis. It is also indicated for painful pathologies as: dislocations, muscle wounds.
Equines: treatment of chronic arthritis or osteoarthritis, bursitis and soft tissues reactions; antirheumatic agent.

 

Target species:

Equines.

 

Withdrawal period and precautions:

Do not administer to animals whose meat is intended for human consumption.

It is contraindicated in patients with hematological or medullar abnormalities history, persistent GI ulcers and in animals destined to human consumption or dairy cows in production.

It should be carefully used in ponies and colts, because of increased incidence of hypoproteinemia and gastrointestinal ulceration. Colts with high parasite loads might be more susceptible to present adverse effects.

 

Route of administration:

Parenteral, slow intravenous injection.

It is recommended to be especially precautious when administrating the drug as it causes great irritation when administrated out of the vein.

 

Dosage:

Recommended posology: 10 ml per day for 5 days or according to veterinarian’s discretion.

Equines: 2 to 8 mg/kg live weight total daily.
