Formula:
Phenylbutazone………….. 22.5 g
Excipients q.s.ad …………… 100 g

 

Indications:
Butamic Oral is an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic.

It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of inflammatory affections associated to the muscle-skeleton system, such as: arthritis, bursitis, miositis, tendonitis, tendovaginitis, neuritis, laminitis. It is also indicated for painful pathologies like: dislocations, muscle wounds.
Equines: treatment of chronic arthritis or osteoarthritis, bursitis and soft tissues reactions; antirheumatic agent.

 

Target species:

Equines.

 

Withdrawal period:

Not to be used in animals intended for human consumption.

 

Route of administration:

Oral route.

 

Dosage:

Basic minimum dose to administer is 1 g of Phenylbutazone.

Generally, 2 minimum doses are administered daily (equivalent to 2 g Phenylbutazone).

It is not recommended to extend treatment beyond one week; in this case treatment will be at the discretion of prescribing professional.

 

Precautions:
It is contraindicated in patients with hematological or medullar abnormalities history, persistent GI ulcers and in animals destined to human consumption or dairy cows in production. It should be carefully used in ponies and colts, because of increased incidence of hypoproteinemia and gastrointestinal ulceration. Colts with high parasite loads might be more susceptible to present adverse effects.
