Injection

 

Formula:

Each 100 mL contains:

Furosemide………….. 5 g

 

Indications:

Furosemide is used for its fast action and potency in all species for the treatment of: edemas such as post-traumatic, post-surgery, lung edemas or related to hepatopathies, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, etc.

Small animals: it is indicated for the treatment of congestive cardiomyopathies, edemas, uremia, as a part of therapy in cases of hyperkalemia and, occasionally, as a hypotensive agent.

Cattle: it is indicated for the treatment of udder edema. It helps to prevent or reduce epistaxis (exercise-induced lung hemorrhage) in racing horses.

 

Target species:

It is intended for all species.

 

Withdrawal period

Meat: 24 hours.

Milk: 2 days.

 

Route of administration:

By intramuscular or intravenous route; taking the corresponding asepsis precautions for the application of injections.

 

Dosage:

Recommended dose:

Canines and felines: 2.5 mg to 5 mg of Furosemide per kg of live weight, equivalent to 0.05 ml – 0.1 ml/kg of live weight. To facilitate the calculation of the dose, from 0.5 to 1 ml of Furomic per 10 kg of weight, 2 times/day, at intervals of 6 to 8 hours.

Bovines and equines: 0.5 mg to 1 mg of furosemide per kg of weight equivalent to 0.01 – 0.02 ml/kg. Per 500 kg of weight, 5 to 10 ml of Furomic, 1 to 2 times a day. Do not administer more than two consecutive days to cows with post-labor edema.

Swine: 5 mg/kg equivalent to 0.1 ml/kg of weight, equivalent to 10 ml of Furomic per 100 kg of weight, once or twice a day.

 

Precautions:

Veterinary’s supervision is recommended. Its use is contraindicated in cases of hypovolaemia or dehydration, severe hypokalemia, severe hyponatremia and kidney failure not responding to the active ingredient. Do not use in animals that are allergic to sulphonamides due to the possibility of cross sensitivity.
