Potassium Chloride Injectable Microsules

Composition: 

Each 100 mL contains: 

Potassium chloride …………………. 10.0 g 

Excipients q.s.p. ………………… 100 ml

Indications: 

Potassium chloride is used for the treatment of potassium deficiencies in the body (hypokalemia). Low blood potassium levels can have various causes such as diseases, sweating, diarrhea, medications, etc. The use of this injectable product allows for a rapid and efficient supply of potassium to the body.

Target Species: 

Horses.

Route of Administration: 

Injectable, with the appropriate aseptic measures for this route of administration. Dilute the volume to be administered in 1 liter of physiological solution, slow intravenous administration.

Dosage: 

The dosage will depend on the recommendation of the attending professional. For each specific situation, the professional will take into account that each ml of the product contains 1.34 mEq of potassium. Recommended dose: It is common, if there are no contraindications, to administer between 0.5 to 1 g of potassium chloride per 100 kg of body weight. Dilute 25 to 50 mL in 1 liter of physiological solution and administer via slow intravenous route. The parameters to be monitored and the monitoring frequency associated with potassium therapy depend on the cause and/or severity of hypokalemia, abnormalities in acid/base status, renal function, other administered drugs or diuretics used, and may include: a) Serum potassium, b) other electrolytes, c) acid/base status, d) glucose, e) ECG, f) complete blood count, and g) urine examination.

Contraindications: 

Severe metabolic acidosis. Cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest. Acute renal failure. Oliguria. Anuria.

Precautions: 

Store in its original container, in dry and cool places, protected from direct sunlight, out of reach of children and pets. Dispose of containers and leftovers according to the current regulations in the country.
