Formula:

Xylazine HCl 2.33 g

Excipients q.s.ad. 100 mL

Indications:

Xylazine is indicated to cause sedation with a short period of analgesia and as a pre-anesthetic before general anesthesia. Uses: Diagnostic, orthopedic, dental procedures, in minor surgery of short duration, sedative during the post-surgical period, to facilitate the management of irascible animals. As a pre-anesthetic when sodium pentobarbital, thiopental sodium, tiamilal sodium, nitrous oxide, halothane or methoxyflurane, etc. are used.

Target species :

Canine and feline.

Route of administration:

Intravenous or intramuscular, taking aseptic measures corresponding to the administration of injections.

Dosage:

Each ml of Xilamic contains 20 mg of Xylacin base.

Dogs and cats: I / v 1.1 mg / kg. IM: from 1.1 to 2.2 mg / kg of weight.

Indicative dose 0.05 ml at 0.15 ml / kg of weight

After its administration, the animal should be allowed to rest in a calm environment until full effect. The indicated doses provide a sedation effect for approximately 1-2 hours and analgesia for about 15-30 minutes. As a pre-anesthetic in general anesthesia, generally with the use of 1/3 to ½ of the total calculated dose of barbiturates, administered to effect, is sufficient to reach the surgical anesthetic level.
