Formula:
Atropine sulfate 0.30 g (3%)
Excipientes q.s.ad. 100 mL
Indications:
Anticholinergic, antispasmodic. Particularly indicated as a treatment for pesticide such as organophosphorus, barbiturates, cholinergic group poisoning; as an antispasmodic and anesthetic premedication. Indicated for the treatment of reflexes that cause intraoperative bradycardia; as pre-surgery medication for its antisialogogas and sedative properties; as an antispasmodic to relieve pylorospasm, hypertonicity of the small intestine, hypermotility of the large intestine (colon) and hypertonicity of the uterine muscle.
Target species:
Bovine, ovine, swine, equine, canine and feline.
Route of administration
By subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous injection.
Dosage:
* 0.02 a 0.2 mg per kg. of weight.
In organophosphate poisoning or in parasympathomimetic can be up to 0.5 mg / kg. It is recommended in these cases to administer a quarter by IV route and the rest by S / C or I / M route.
Bovine and equine: 0.03 to 0.06 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.01 to 0.02 mL of the product per kg of live weight.
Ovine: 0.03 to 0.16 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.01 to 0.05 mL of the product per Kg of live weight.
Swine: 0.02 to 0.04 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.006 to 0.033 mL of the product per Kg of live weight.
Canine and feline: 0.03 to 0.1 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.01 to 0.033 mL of the product per Kg of live weight.
The dose can be repeated 3 or 4 times with 4 to 6 hours interval, according to the veterinarian’s discretion, and taking into account the symptoms remission.
Precautions:
Do not administer to animals with hypersensitivity to the drug; pyloric stenosis; glaucoma. Avoid direct contact with eyes. When the product is coadministered with other drugs that possess anticholinergic activity, its effect is accentuated.
